Our mens team have reached the North Riding county FA senior cup final against Scarborough, and we’ve had quite the run getting there. The competition started off with us beating Grangetown Boys Club away seeing us play the game with 10 men for 50 minutes due to a red card, in the end we won 2-1. Then came our biggest challenge to date seeing us come up against Marske United. The game was a spectacle seeing us hang on with our goalkeeper having to come off early in the second half due to an injury and getting a 2-2 draw before winning on penalties 8-7. This is where the phrase “Epic Giant Killing” started being used by manager Will Botham.
Up next came Northallerton in the Quater-Finals, a game full of goals helping us sweep aside a tough team in Northallerton 5-3 with goals coming from Anton Buchan, James Tattersfield x2, Arran Brookbanks and Ben Hamilton. We most recently played a strong Guisborough Town in the semi-Finals Side under the lights at The KGV Stadium. We 1-0 down early on in the game and struggled to get going throughout the match as the snow started to come down but late on 2 late goals from James Tattersfield seen us go through to the fianl in York.
So now we are against National league North Side Scarborough on the 26th April 2023 at the LNER Stadium the home of York City FC. We would love to see as many faces supporting the lads in achieving a massive ending to this years cup run.
